The XIV International “Slava Rossii” (“Russian Glory”) Tournament has taken place at the Luzhniki Sports Palace. This is the largest open dance tournament in the world – over 15 thousand participants of different ages fought for the champion’s title.
The tournament programme included the European Group Dance Championship, the prestigious Grand Slam World Series tournament and the Open International IDSF Latin American Dance Tournament.
Contest events take place on three stages simultaneously - one for every age group. The oldest participants are in perfect control of their emotions, every couple has an image and a style of their own. As for the youngest participants (aged 7-10), the contest has been a very important test. The event was extremely emotional indeed.
The European Group Dance Championship was the main event of the weeklong dance marathon. Participants included groups from Germany, Moldavia, Slovakia, Poland, The Netherlands and other countries. "Vera", a Russian group from Tyumen, has managed to beat the Moldavian group, the former world champion.
The “Slava Rossii” tournament is the most important annual event to any true dance aficionado. This is where every Russian dancing couple gets the opportunity to compete with the best duets from abroad.
