Sports festival “Moscow Sports at Luzhniki” was visited by over 300 thousand people
Sports festival “Moscow Sports at Luzhniki” dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Moscow Olympic Games was held on July 31 on over 50 athletic fields for various sports: from traditional to extreme. Over 300,000 people took part in the event.“This festival is traditionally held in summer time,” Sergey Baidakov, Moscow City Deputy Mayor, Chief of Headquarters for the preparation and holding of the International forum "Russia - Country of Sports", said at the opening ceremony, “This year it became greater and more interesting as it was included in the program of the International sport forum.”
The festival program included the World Championship of Beatboxing, the first phase of the Roller Sports European Cup, IV All-Russia festival of parkour, Russian Championship and Moscow Cup of Streetball, and other events. Together with championships for professional athletes amateur tournaments, master classes and family tournaments are held. Everyone could try arm-wrestling, paintball, carting, and take part in competitions in national sports.
Many areas of the event were decorated in the style of the 1980s. There were photos, scale models and attributes from the past which became symbols of the 80s: brass band, “living” statues of boys playing horns and girls with oars, policemen of the State Automobile Inspectoratedriving yellow “Volga”, glass cones for sale of carbonated drinks containing syrup.
According to the Muscovites and guests of Moscow who were at Luzhniki that day, the festival is an unforgettable event for all participants which shall contribute to the revival of traditionsof active recreation for families.
